Heritage girls, boys take win TAPPS South Regional meet
Both track and field teams from Heritage School earned first place honors at Friday's 2014 TAPPS 1A South Regional Meet held at San Antonio Christian School.
A total of 11 Eagles — six boys and five girls — will now participate in the TAPPS 1A state championship events slated for Friday and Saturday on the Baylor University campus in Waco.
The Lady Eagles accumulated 146 points, 15 more than second place Castle Hills First Baptist School, to take the championship. Meanwhile, the Heritage boys out-pointed Castle Hills for their South Regional title.
Three Heritage girls finished in first place in eight separate events to pace the Lady Eagles — Kami Jones (100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, high jump, pole vault), Claire Pedregon (100 meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump) and Lindsey Pressler (shot put).
On the boys’ side of the ledger, five team members earned first place recognition — Chad Johnson (110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, high jump, pole vault, 4x400 meter relay), other 4x400 meter relay members Joe Lucas, Skylar Kitzmiller, Parker Given; and Leighton Klepac (discus).
“Regional was challenging in a number of ways for both the girls’ and boys’ teams,” said Heritage head coach Brad Sultemeier. “It was good to see so many personal records in the season — right when you want your kids to hit their peak. I am convinced that we will see several more personal records at the state meet in Waco this Friday."
