The thunderbolt that is a state championship struck Heritage School twice last week as the Eagles and Lady Eagles tennis teams won TAPPS 1A titles during tournament action held at the Regional Tennis Center in Waco on Wednesday and Thursday.
It was a noteworthy experience for the netters on more than one level. Not only did the girls’ team repeat as state champions, but the boys’ squad also picked up a top trophy for the first time in school history. And the icing on the cake was the play of the girls’ doubles team of Christina Harpold and Sydney Richburg who captured their third consecutive state championship.
In all, there were 18 girls’ schools and 19 boys’ schools participating in last week’s championship action.
