Marktplatz fish fry to aid local firemen
With The Almost Patsy Cline Band headlining as its entertainer, the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department (FVFD) will host its annual, community-wide fish fry fundraiser on Saturday, April 26.
The event is being held later than normal this year due to a scheduling conflict, but the wait will be worth it as the event gets back to the “good old days,” once again offering a dance, according to FVFD President Brian Lochte.
Plates of piping-hot fish filets (fried up in huge kettles manned by volunteer firefighters nearby,) along with plenty of side dishes, will be served starting at 5 p.m. on Marktplatz. Cost per plate is by donation.
Lochte reminds diners, however, that this is a primary fund-raising event for the volunteer fire department and asks them to contribute fairly and generously to collection jars which will be stationed at the ends of each food serving line.
