FHS boys sending 12 to regional track meet
Twelve members of the Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ track team will compete in 10 events during the University Interscholastic League Region IV Track and Field Meet on Friday and Saturday at Texas A&M Kingsville.
The athletes qualified for the regional meet after placing in the top four in their events at the District 27/28 Area Track Meet last Monday at La Vernia and Wednesday at Canyon Lake.
“Our goal at the regional meet was to just qualify for regional in our events,” head coach Dan Aldrich said. FHS finished third in the team standings behind Boerne and San Antonio Sam Houston.
Regional qualifiers for Fredericksburg include:
•Long jump — Matthew McManigle.
•Triple jump — McManigle.
•3200 meter run — Juan Hernandez-Ortega.
•4x100 meter relay — Devin Bylsma, Kyle Allen, Cody Stevens, Bryce Trois, Mitchell Edwards and Michael Diaz.
•800 meter run — Sam Studebaker.
•100 meter dash — McManigle.
•4x200 meter relay — Bylsma, Stevens, Kyle Grona, Jonathan Espinoza, Allen and Edwards.
•400 meter dash — Trois.
•4x400 meter relay — Trois, Studebaker, Espinoza, McManigle, Daniel Rojas and Diaz.
