Girls track falls just shy of district title
Fredericksburg High School girls’ track teams found success at the District 27-3A Track Meet on Wednesday and Thursday at Canyon Lake High School.
The JV girls won their fifth district title while the varsity girls finished second, just 1.3 points shy of the top spot.
Individuals who placed in the top four at district earned the right to advance to the Area 27/28-3A Track Meet, which began on Monday with the field events at LaVernia High School and continues today, Wednesday, at Canyon Lake High School.
And from this week’s area meet, the top four finishers will qualify for the Region IV 3A Track Meet at Texas A&M Kingsville on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26.
Qualifying so far for the regional meet after Monday’s competition were Chase Whiting and Shelbi Schneider in the long jump.
Because weather delayed most of the first day of competition at La Vernia, field events will continue today starting at 4 p.m. along with the running finals which get underway at 6 p.m.
Complete results from the area meet will appear in next week’s edition of the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
