Harper baseball falls to Ozona
By Danny Hirt —
Harper High School’s varsity baseball team suffered a loss in its only game of the past week, dropping a 13-9 decision at district opponent Ozona on Friday.
Due to testing this week, the Longhorns won’t hit the playing field until Friday when they travel to Eldorado. The junior varsity squads will face off at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity contest to follow.
HHS will return home Tuesday to face the Junction Eagles at 7 p.m. The JVs will play at 5 p.m.
Ozona 13, Harper 9
The Longhorns saw an early 2-0 lead in the second inning evaporate as host Ozona scored 13 runs in the next five innings on its way to a 13-9 victory over Harper on Friday.
After plating a run in each of the first two innings, Ozona countered with a run in the bottom of the second and two more in the third. From there, the Lions tacked on three runs in the fourth, three more in the fifth and a four-spot in the sixth.
