Golfers to compete at district
By Lisa Treiber-Walter
When the Fredericksburg High School (FHS) varsity golfers head into district play next week, they’re going to need to focus on the virtues of “patience” and “course management” if they hope to succeed.
That’s FHS Coach Janie Guynes’ insight as she gets ready to take her shooters into the University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 27-3A Golf Tournament this coming Monday and Tuesday, April 7-8.
Tee off will be at 9 a.m. daily for the girls, who will be playing holes at the Buckhorn Golf Course in Comfort, and for the boys, who will be walking the greens at the Flying L Golf Course in Bandera.
Seniors Kaytlen James and Kristen Payne “have played excellent in previous tournaments,” Guynes said, including when they won second-place in the team tandings at the Fredericksburg Invitational held Tuesday, March 25, at the Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Course.
“They are ready to play the district tournament and to lead their team to region,” Guynes said.
