Netters to host district tourney
By Lisa Treiber-Walter —
A season of trial, error and … mostly success … has all boiled down to this week’s most important meet on the Fredericksburg High School (FHS) tennis schedule — the University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 27-3A Tennis Tournament.
Single-elimination varsity matches start tomorrow, Thursday, March 27, at 9 a.m. on the HEB courts at the FHS campus.
Varsity finals and third-place matches will be played at 9 a.m. at the high school on Friday, March 28, while the junior varsity rounds get under way at the same time out at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park.
Any matches left unresolved will be finished out at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, at the high school, FHS Coach Randall King said.
Expected to field players in the loop competition are all six District 27 teams, which, in addition to Fredericksburg, include: Canyon Lake, Navarro, Bandera, Boerne and Wimberley.
Wimberley’s Texans will be the strongest opponents King expects his Billies to face over the net, while Boerne’s Greyhounds will pose a close second.
