Boys' soccer holds bright future

The future of Fredericksburg High School’s varsity boys’ soccer team is “really bright.”
“We’re losing only a handful of seniors and getting back so many sophomores and juniors,” said FHS Coach Shannon Petsch.
“With another year to mature, these players should be something to be reckoned with next year and I have to thank the seniors that we had for helping us to get to that point,” Petsch said.
The Billies finished up their year at 5-13-2 and district at 1-7-0 in what was a building block season.
But it was his team’s performance in the final game of the season — a 5-2 non-district loss at Medina Valley on March 18 — that gave Petsch proof of his up-and-coming squad’s worth.
“It was a very well-played game,” he said, adding that two scores were contributed in the first half by FHS’ Sammy Studebaker and Irvin Licea Silva, although the Billies forfeited three to Medina Valley.
