Orman Layton Puckett


Orman Layton Puckett, 76, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 10, 2014.

A memorial mass was celebrated Tuesday, March 18, at 9 a.m. at the Marienkirche with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Fredericksburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Puckett was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Wichita Falls, the son of Orman Layton Puckett and Lena Mae Griffith Puckett. He grew up in Farmers Branch and Dallas where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1956. He briefly attended North Texas State University before joining the United States Army in 1957.

Puckett married Claudia Rose Wright in 1962. In 1967, they moved to Fredericksburg.

In 1979, he married Hope Susan Wright.  In 1984, they moved to Camden, Maine and later Great Falls, Mont.

Puckett was a Master Mason and an active member of Euclid Masonic Lodge No. 58 in Great Falls, Mont.

He is survived by three sons and spouses, including David and Frances (Sassy) Puckett of San Angelo; John Puckett of Harper, and James and Eva Puckett of Livingston; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Euclid Lodge No. 58 or to the charity of choice.
