Mrs. Bruno Metzger


Mrs. Bruno Metzger, 91, nee Evelyn Petsch of Brenham, died Monday, March 10, 2014.

A funeral mass was celebrated Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham with interment following at Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Brenham Memorial Chapel where visitation and a vigil service were held Friday evening, March 14.

Mrs. Metzger was born Dec. 13, 1922, in the Luckenbach community, the daughter of Henry Petsch and Alma Jenschke Petsch. She married Bruno Metzger on May 14, 1946, in Fredericksburg. He preceded her in death.

For some time, Mrs. Metzger baked pies for the Bluebonnet Inn Restaurant. She was also a volunteer at the Brenham State School.

She is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including Roger and Tamy Metzger of Brenham; Karla and Ken Thomas, Lake Travis, and Dean and Julie Metzger of Austin.

Survivors also include three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Charlene Petsch of San Antonio.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Metzger was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Hahn, and a brother, Vernon Petsch.

Pallbearers included Tom Petsch, Harold Sprawls, Bud Smith, Ted Nelson, Joel Romo, Albert House Jr., Ed Pothul and Bill Cramer.
