Finding the greens favorable, the Fredericksburg High School (FHS) varsity girls’ golf team has topped its past two tournaments and is now preparing to join with the boys’ teams in hosting the FHS Invitational next week.

The girls are on the schedule to play Tuesday, March 25, while the varsity and junior varsity boys will take to the tees Wednesday, March 26.

Rounds both days will start at 9 a.m. at the Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Course.

Playing yesterday, March 18, the Billies tallied a score of 367 on the Flying L Golf Course to take the Bandera Invitational title.

Coming in second was Kerrville Tivy’s varsity girls, with a combined score of 414.

Individually, besting the field was Fredericksburg’s Kristen Payne, who won the first-place medalist position, but only after a playoff with teammate Kaytlen James. Both had shot a low of 84 for the day, but Payne won on the first hole of the shoot off.
