FHS track earns sweep at Lampasas
Fredericksburg High School track completed a clean sweep on Friday, taking first place in all four divisions at the Lampasas Badger Relays.
“Our goal was to finish our first phase of the season on a positive note which we did perfectly,” head track coach Dan Aldrich said. “This was a great way to enter our spring break week and will help us set up phase two of our season as we begin to focus on our district meet in four weeks.”
After a four-day spring break, the Billies will resume their normal workout schedule tomorrow, Thursday, March 13, in advance of the 48th annual Carlin Wicker Fredericksburg Relays on Saturday, March 22.
The relays are tentatively scheduled to start with the 3200 meter run and field events at 9 a.m. followed by the running finals at 1:30 p.m.
Schools attending are Concordia High School, Lampasas, Marble Falls, Kerrville, St. Michaels, Medina Valley, Boerne Geneva, Burnet Girls and Fredericksburg.
Bringing home three gold medals, five silver medals and four bronze medals from the Lampasas Badger Relays on Friday was the FHS varsity girls’ track team.
Those top placings were enough to help the Billies finish first in the standings with 137 points, ahead of Liberty Hill in second with 128 points.
“The girls flipped the second-place finish to Liberty Hill from two weeks ago in Burnet by improving many performances after a solid week of training,” Aldrich said.
