Boys' soccer to face Heights
By Lisa Treiber-Walter —
Hoping to ride a wave of momentum through to a win in the last game of district play — and against the loop leader, at that — are the Fredericksburg High School varsity soccer boys.
Their final regulation-play test will come Friday, March 7, when the last-place 1-6-0 Billies will go up against the current first-place team in University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 54-4A standings — the 3-0-3 San Antonio Alamo Heights.
Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. on the Mules’ field.
“Hopefully, we can continue with the momentum we’ve had and get a win and then see what the future holds after that,” said FHS Coach Shannon Petsch.
His Billies have suddenly “flipped a switch,” brightening their prospects with flashes of the best soccer “we have played all year,” Petsch said.
Last night, the squad lost to Boerne Champion, 1-0, while it dropped Friday night’s Feb. 28 game to Kerrville Tivy, 2-0.
