Harper softball edges Boerne 7-6
By Danny Hirt —
The Ladyhorns from Harper High School used seventh inning dramatics to defeat Boerne 7-6 in varsity softball action Monday evening on the HHS diamond.
Shelby Koenig’s double to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning proved to be the difference in the HHS victory.
Harper will enter the Blanco Tournament later this week, opening with Comfort at 10 a.m. on Thursday. That game will be followed by two more contests, starting with a 2:30 p.m. game against Johnson City, then Canyon Lake at 5:30 p.m.
The tournament will continue Saturday.
On Tuesday, March 4, the Ladyhorns will travel to Wimberley. JV action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.
Harper 7, Boerne 6
With the score tied at six-all in the bottom half of the seventh, Taya Beyer reached on a one-out twin-bagger to the right centerfield power gap, then advanced to third when teammate Baley Felts reached on a fielder’s choice.
That’s when Koenig, who picked up the win as the Ladyhorn pitcher, came to the plate for her heroics, leading Harper to a 7-6 victory over Boerne.
