Ladyhorns advance to Region IV semis
By Danny Hirt —
After downing Stacey in the bi-district round by a one-sided 60-21 score on Feb. 10, the Harper High School Ladyhorns continued their march through the Region IV-1A basketball playoffs, but by slimmer margins.
HHS topped Holland 35-31 in Friday’s area round and then squeezed by Iola 35-32 in the regional quarterfinals Monday at Hays High School in Buda.
The Ladyhorns will next face Falls City Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the New Braunfels Canyon High School gymnasium in the regional semifinals.
Harper 35, Iola 32
Despite building up a 20-8 lead by intermission, Harper had to withstand an Iola second half surge to keep ahead and win in the Region IV quarterfinal round, 35-32, Monday.
Iola outscored Harper in both the third and fourth periods by a total of 24-15 points (9-6 in the third, 15-9 in the fourth).
