Contested race emerges as Langerhans challenges Hoover

The first contested race for three open positions on the Fredericksburg City Council has emerged as former mayor Linda Langerhans filed Monday morning to run against current mayor Jeryl Hoover in the May 10 election.

Langerhans is the third candidate to file, joining Hoover, who filed on Jan. 29, and current Fredericksburg council member Kathy Sanford who filed for reelection Feb. 6.

Filing will continue through 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28.

The May 10 ballot will include the races for mayor and city council spots currently held by Tim Dooley and Sanford.
