'Nimitzplatz' will be area for new WWII hero's statue

The Admiral Nimitz Foundation and National Museum of the Pacific War will unveil one of two eight-foot bronze statues of Adm. Chester Nimitz at what will be known as “Nimitzplatz” at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7.

The unveiling is open to the public. No seating will be provided.

Nimitz Foundation marketing director Brandon Vinyard said that in case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed until Monday, Feb. 10.
