Netters prepare for busy spring
Working on their timing and winding themselves back “up to speed” are the goals this week for the Fredericksburg High School varsity tennis team, according to coach Randall King.
Billie netters are getting a chance to re-synchronize themselves with a break in their schedule this week before they host the six-team Billie Invitational Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8, at home on the FHS courts.
This week’s reprieve comes on the heels of a scrimmage-type outing at Mason this past Saturday, Jan. 25.
It was a golden opportunity for the 12 boys and 12 girls who made the trip west, with each getting to play at least two and as many as four matches, King said.
“A day like that is as good as three days of practice,” he said, adding that it helps to have fresh competition across the nets.
