Local banks, government to close for MLK Day

Slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born Jan. 15, 1929, and to honor his birthday, the third Monday in January is a federal holiday.

This year, King’s birthday will be honored on Monday, Jan. 20.

Some schools will be open, some closed and others will be open but will focus much of their day discussing King and his legacy.


•Federal offices in Fredericksburg will be closed on Jan. 20.

•State offices will also be closed.

•County offices will also be closed.

•City offices will be open during normal business hours.
