Heritage girls edge Gateway 36-33

By Danny Hirt

No rest for the weary.

After playing three games during the past week — which included a 36-33 win over San Antonio Gateway played Tuesday night in the Kroc Center in Kerrville — the Heritage School girls’ basketball team will return to the court four more times in the next seven-day span.

Following Friday’s home contest with San Angelo Cornerstone at the Fredericksburg First Baptist Church gymnasium, the Lady Eagles will travel to Seguin Lifegate on Saturday. From there, Heritage goes to San Marcos Hill Country on Monday, then heads on to San Antonio Tuesday to face Selma River City Believers.

All of those games will tip off at 6 p.m. with the exception of Saturday’s contest, which starts at 2 p.m.

The Lady Eagles topped San Antonio Rainbow Hills 51-18 at the First Baptist Church gym on Friday, Jan. 10, then bested San Antonio New Life by a 43-16 margin on Saturday in the Kroc Center in Kerrville.

“This weekend served us well as the Lady Eagles put up two wins against a couple of worthy opponents,” said Heritage head coach Mike McKinnon. “In both of these games, our defense was the strong point which allowed us to cause several turnovers in order to pull out the wins. Each girl contributed on both ends of the floor in our quest for a great season.”
