Fort Martin Scott 'New Orleans Day' event on Saturday
Fort Martin Scott will host the “Battle of New Orleans Celebration,” a presentation of western music, cowboy poetry and storytelling on Saturday, Jan. 11.
The fort gates will open at 11 a.m. for visiting, wine tasting and catered appetizers with the show starting at noon and the finale at 3 p.m.
Admission is free but seating is limited if the event is moved indoors due to inclement weather. Freewill donations will be appreciated to help fund this event and events to come at Fort Martin Scott in the future.
“During the 1800’s, commemoration of the Battle of New Orleans was celebrated with the pomp and ceremony of a national holiday,” City of Fredericksburg communication manager Juli Bahlinger said. “Fort Martin Scott friends organized to plan the fort’s activities and fundraising, will rejuvenate that feeling and use this week in January every year to bring an additional entertainment event to Fredericksburg during the winter months.”
