County unemployment rates stay below national, state average
Gillespie County’s unemployment rate is lower than the state and national averages.
The latest report by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) shows Gillespie County’s November unemployment rate at 3.7 percent, just a shade lower than last month and November 2012.
The county’s unemployment rate is lower than the surrounding counties. Mason County has the second lowest unemployment rate of the surrounding counties at 4 percent.
For the state, the unemployment rate dropped from 6 percent to 5.8 percent. This was the lowest reported rate since December 2008. The state’s unemployment numbers are below the nation’s, which also saw a dip in unemployment to 6.6 percent.
