Harper girls top Bandera 42-30 Saturday

Following Saturday afternoon’s 42-30 victory over visiting Bandera, the Harper High School’s girls’ varsity basketball team will get in one more game before the start of the New Year when the Ladyhorns travel to Comfort for a 2 p.m. game on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Harper will crank up its District 27-1A schedule on Friday, Jan. 3, when it hosts Medina at 6:30 p.m. The two schools’ junior varsity squads will face off at 5 p.m. From there, the Ladyhorns will go to Mason on Tuesday, Jan. 7, for another league encounter, also starting at 6:30 p.m.

Harper (15-4) is currently ranked 12th in the state among 1A teams by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Trailing by a point at halftime — 18-17 — Harper mounted a comeback effort that saw the Ladyhorns outscore Bandera by a 15-7 margin on their way to a 42-30 victory.
