Deadlines moved up for holiday publications
In a scenario that doesn’t happen but once in every so many years, the Christmas Day holiday this year coincides with the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post’s regular publication day of Wednesday, Dec. 25.
To accommodate the holiday, the newspaper’s advertising and news article deadlines and, subsequently, publication schedules, have been moved up in adjustment.
Next week’s Christmas Day edition will be published on Monday, Dec. 23. Likewise, the following week’s paper will also be published on Monday, Dec. 30, in light of New Year’s Day also falling on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.
With the earlier publication schedules in store during the coming weeks, deadlines for submitted news articles and photos, as well as advertisements, have also been moved forward.
For Christmas week and New Year’s week papers, the deadline for submitting display and classified advertisements will be as follows for their respective sections:
Real estate advertisements are due by 4 p.m. on Thursdays (Dec. 19 and Dec. 26);
Classifieds, Community, Lifestyles and It’s On advertisements are due at 9 a.m. on Fridays (Dec. 20 and Dec. 27), and,
Sports and Section A advertisements are due by noon on Fridays (Dec. 20 and Dec. 27.)
The reprised deadline for submitting news article items and photos for both the pushed ahead Christmas and New Year’s editions is at noon on the Fridays before — Dec. 20 and Dec. 27.
Because of the early publication schedules, subscribers who normally receive their papers via home delivery carriers will receive their papers on Monday, Dec. 23, and Monday, Dec. 30.
Local readers who normally receive their papers in the mail on Thursdays should get their copies on Tuesdays for those two weeks.
After putting out the Christmas issue on Monday, Dec. 23, offices of the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post will close so that employees may enjoy all of Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24) and Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25) away from work and in the company of their families.
Doors to the newspaper office, 712 West Main Street, will reopen for business, keeping regular hours from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26.
Then, the following week, after early publication on Monday, Dec. 30, the newspaper office will remain open for normal business hours on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31.
The office will close for the entirety of New Year’s Day on Wednesday, Jan. 1, but reopen again on Thursday, Jan. 2.
