Contested race develops in JP Pct. 1 ballot
One contested race has developed in the 2014 Gillespie County political primary races set for March 4, 2014.
In the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, race, newcomer Debbi McCurdy, a deputy attorney for the City of Fredericksburg, will challenge J.D. Hickman, owner/operator of a livestock services company.
Current Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Louis Rech chose not to run for reelection.
The terms of county judge, two county commissioners, two justices of the peace and administrative positions are open for new four-year terms.
The March 4 primary elections will define party candidates ahead of the Nov. 4, 2014 general election. In heavily Republican Gillespie County, the spring race will decide many of the winners.
All candidates seeking election will run in the Republican primary. All offices are four-year terms.
