City OK's new B&B on Main

By Matt Ward —

In a light agenda to close out 2013, the Fredericksburg City Council approved a conditional use permit to allow a nine-unit bed and breakfast facility in the Central Business District at 415 and 417 East Main Street during their final regular meeting of the year Monday.

The project, which will be called Blacksmith’s Quarters on Barons Creek, will include eight new units at the rear of the property and the conversion of an existing residential building at 415 East Main Street to a three-bedroom unit.

The existing building at 417 East Main Street, which used to be Fredericksburg Paper Goods, will be converted into a lobby and lounge for guests.

The proposal, made by Shayna Thompson on behalf of owner John Muraglia, was unanimously approved by a 4-0 vote. Mayor Jeryl Hoover was absent from the meeting.
