Chamber to host parade, 'Afterglow' market Friday
Filling the night sky with holiday cheer, the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce will host its annual “Light The Night” lighted Christmas parade and laser light show on Friday, Dec. 6 as well as “Afterglow,” a family celebration.
Activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an approximately 12-minute-long laser light show on Marktplatz, facing the 100 block of West Main Street.
The parade will take place rain or shine, starting at the intersection of Crockett and Main streets. The entire parade route along Main Street between Washington and Bowie streets is available for free seating on a first come-first serve basis.
The reserved bleacher seating located in front of Pioneer Memorial Library is sold out. Attendees seated in the 100 block of West Main will be able to view the laser light show, choreographed to Christmas music, which serves as the grand opening of the parade.
Just after the lasers have finished, the community will be treated to Fredericksburg’s traditional lighted night-time Christmas parade.
The large procession — all units of which will be adorned with holiday lights of some fashion — will wind from the front of the square down to the intersection of South Washington Street (at the Nimitz Museum) and back up the street so that the parade is passing itself in both directions at some points.
From 8-10 p.m., Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be available for free photos in his sleigh. The photo area will be staged on Marktplatz adjacent to the Vereins Kirche.
