Boys' basketball wins pair of games
Back at .500 after winning their first two contests of the season, the 2-2 Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ basketball team will travel to the Marble Falls tournament Thursday through Saturday.
FHS defeated Uvalde 46-37 at home last night after topping Medina Valley 48-40 on the road Nov. 26 prior to the Thanksgiving break.
At this weekend’s tournament in Marble Falls, the Billies will face 4A Dripping Springs Thursday at 9 a.m., followed by a 3 p.m. game with Houston Victory Prep, featuring the nation’s top-ranked freshman in 6’7” shooting guard Jarred Vanderbilt.
“We have our hands full this weekend,” FHS head coach Tim Kaman said. “This is probably terrible scheduling on my part, but we seem to turn things around after the Marble Falls tourney because of the competition level we see there.”
“Hopefully we can learn from our experiences there,” Kaman added. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger is what they say.”
On Friday, FHS will face 4A Cedar Park Vista Ridge at 3 p.m., followed by 2A Jarrell at 6 p.m. Saturday matchups pit Fredericksburg against 5A Sugarland Dulles at 10:30 a.m. and Lehman at 4:30 p.m.
Fredericksburg will return home to host Lampasas Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
