Harper girls win fourth hoops contest

The girls’ varsity basketball team from Harper High School picked its fourth win of the young basketball season, topping John Paul II Catholic High School in the HHS gymnasium Friday evening.

Harper will travel to Utopia on Tuesday, Dec. 3, for a 6:15 p.m. contest. The schools’ junior varsity squads will play at 5 p.m.

From there, the Ladyhorns will host their own hoops tournament Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 5-7.


Harper 58, John Paul II 37

With three players hitting double-digit scoring on the night, the Ladyhorns used a 22-point second period to break open a close game on their way to a 58-37 home victory.

Sarah Whitten connected for 17 points on the night, followed by another 12 from Taylor Reid and 11 more from Macie Lumpkins.

Whitten, who collected four steals on the night, also pulled down seven rebounds, as did Lumpkins.
