Eagles advance to state semifinals
By Danny Hirt —
For the ninth time in the school’s 10-year history of TAPPS six-man football, Heritage School will be heading to the semifinal round of the state Division II playoffs, thanks to a 56-0 thumping of Brownwood Victory Life School Saturday on the field at Cherokee High School.
The Eagles will now play the winner of the Granbury North Central Texas Academy versus Lubbock Kingdom Preparatory Academy contest in a game that was rescheduled until earlier this week due to last weekend’s inclement weather.
The results of that contest, the date and the location of the semifinal game were not known at this week’s early press deadline.
On the other side of the brackets, two teams from District 4 (the same league that contains Heritage) — San Antonio Castle Hills and Seguin Lifegate — will face off for a bid to the championship slated for Dec. 7 at Zephyr High School.
Castle Hills finished the regular season as the district champion, with Lifegate taking second and Heritage third.
Lifegate and Heritage met in last year’s state title match with Lifegate taking the crown.
