Boys fall in hoops season opener

Austin Rodriguez scored 31 points to lead the Billies as the Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ basketball team fell to Ingram 64-61 in their season-opening game at home Tuesday night.

The Billies will take Friday off to support the FHS varsity football team in the area playoffs before hosting Marble Falls Monday at 7:30 p.m. and travelling to Medina Valley Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.

“This was a tough loss to start the year, but at least we had a chance at the end of the ballgame,” head coach Tim Kaman said. “That is all you can ask of your team, just have a chance to win in the end. We just did not take advantage of our chance.”
