Mrs. Chester W. Otte


Mrs. Chester W. Otte, 94, nee Lulie Ernestine Jacoby of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Knopp Assisted Living Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating. Bernice Basse was the organist and Deanne Moellering, the vocalist.

Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Mrs. Otte was born July 26, 1919, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Max W. Jacoby and Lena Birck Jacoby. She married Chester William Otte on March 28, 1940. He preceded her in death.

For more than 20 years, Mrs. Otte worked at Market Produce. She was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, and quilted with the Holy Ghost Quilters group.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, including Kenneth and Marjorie Otte and Calvin and Brenda Otte, all of Stonewall; four grandchildren, one step-grandson and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Otte was preceded in death by two sisters, Addie Jacoby and Frankie Lina, Mrs. Willie F. Schaefer; a brother, Clarence Jacoby; a sister-in-law, Vera Jacoby, and a brother-in-law, Willie F. Schaefer.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church Debt Retirement Fund, Meals On Wheels or to the charity of choice.

Serving as pallbearers were James Otte, William Otte, Mark Gibbs, Chris Janik, Robert Gibbs, Garrison Gibbs and Clay Janik.
