Constitutional amendment election vote is Tuesday
By Ken Esten Cooke —
Early votes cast in Gillespie County for the state Constitutional Amendment Election have totaled 647 in-person ahead of the Nov. 5 general election date.
Gillespie County Clerk Mary Lynn Rusche said early voting continues until Friday, Nov. 1.
Seventy-four ballots were sent by mail. Those ballots may be returned until Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Between early votes and mail-in ballots, 721 have voted as of Wednesday morning, she said.
Weekend voting took place Saturday and Sunday at the courthouse, and Rusche said 20 people took part Saturday, and six voted on Sunday.
Fredericksburg Food and Wine Festival traffic provided competition, Rusche said, yet four parking spaces were blocked off for the voters. “The festival crowds were very courteous to leave them open for voters,” she said. “Weekend voting doesn’t total a lot, but it’s convenient for people who have to work during the week.”
