Mrs. Charles Darrell Bernhard, 82, nee Carlette Rose (Tuttie) Moritz, of Boerne and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, in North Central Baptist Hospital.

A funeral mass was celebrated Saturday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist and Tricia Eilers the vocalist.

Graveside services and interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bernhard was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Robert Peter Moritz and Vera Susan Kolmeier Moritz.

She married Charles Darrell Bernhard of Jan. 15, 1951, in Fredericksburg. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by seven sons and their spouses, including: Darrell and Sue Bernhard, Robert and Cindy Bernhard, Sid and Karla Berhnard, Myron and DeAnn Bernhard and Corey and Loretta Bernhard, all of Boerne; Bryan and Bridgette Bernhard, of Kendalia, and Brad and Tammie Bernhard of Burnet.

In addition, she is survived by 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include three brothers and spouses: Myron and Jean Moritz and Roger and Joann Moritz, all of San Antonio; Ned and Joyce Moritz, of Austin, and a sister-in-law, Alice, Mrs. Roy Moritz, of Lubbock.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Roy Moritz, and a sister, Betty, Mrs. Bert Pfiester.

Memorials may be made to Respite House of San Antonio or the charity of choice.

Pallbearers were Jake Bernhard, Luke Bernhard, Chance Bernhard, George Kunz, Kenny Prescott and Jesse Aguirre.

Honorary pallbearers were Rhett Welch, Becca Bernhard and Paige Howell.
