CARL HENRY MEURER
Carl Henry Meurer, 89, of San Antonio, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, in San Antonio.
A funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Harnan officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the organist and Annette Whittington the vocalist.
Graveside services and interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home, where visitation was held on Tuesday morning, Oct. 15.
A vigil service was held at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in San Antonio on Monday, Oct. 14.
Meurer was born March 18, 1924, in Fredericksburg, the son of Charles Meurer and Meta Tatsch Meurer.
He married Rose Marie Jenschke on June 5, 1950, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church and she preceded him in death. He later married Audrey Sperry who also preceded him in death.
Meurer served in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by five children and spouses, including: Herb and Beckie Meurer, of Devine; Theresa Hosek, of San Antonio; Vincent Meurer, of Bandera; Agnes and Paul Eddlemon, of Walton, Ky, and Martha and Otis Clawson of Cedar Creek.
He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include brothers and spouse: Hugo and Susie Meurer, of Austin; Norbert Meurer, of Corpus Christi, and a sister-in--law, Lillian Meurer, of Fredericksburg.
Along with his parents and wives, Meurer was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Nora Nebgen, John Meurer, Elsie Albrecht, Alex Meurer and Otto Meurer.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of choice.
Pallbearers were Bruce Reeh, Brent Reeh, Christopher Meurer, Tim Hosek Jr., Michael Hosek and Jake Clawson.
