Netters win district championship
Having already earned the District 27-3A title, the Fredericksburg High School varsity tennis team has two more teams to face as it sharpens up for the UIL Region IV Tennis Tournament Nov. 1-2 in San Marcos.
Tomorrow, Oct. 17, the Billie netters will face — weather permitting — the Class 5A Copperas Cove Bulldawgs at 4 p.m. at the Llano High School courts, in Llano. That match is an attempted makeup after Tuesday’s originally-scheduled meeting was postponed due to rain storms.
After that outing, FHS’ squad will take a short reprieve to rest up in a week-long break before facing Abilene Wylie across the nets at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Mason High School.
Should Fredericksburg place well in the regional tournament Nov. 1-2, they will advance to the UIL State Team Tennis Tournament slated Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, in Abilene.
Most recently, last Saturday, Oct. 12, the Billies downed Mason 10-0 (17-2) in a home match.
