FHS, Harper bands head to UIL contest

All tuned up and ready to perform, the Fredericksburg High School Marching Band will step off in competition this Saturday, Oct. 19, in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region XI Marching Contest.

Local Billie supporters are invited to visit Hondo High School Stadium to cheer on “The Pride of the Texas Hill Country” in the band’s 6:15 p.m. performance.

Harper High School’s Longhorn band will also be competing in Hondo during a 2:45 p.m. field appearance.

This year is an advancement year for only Class 1A (which includes Harper,) 2A and 4A bands.

As a Class 3A band, Fredericksburg was eligible to advance last year and made it all the way to the UIL State Marching Band Contest finals, ultimately winning the silver medal after missing first by one point.
