Netters improve win streak to 14
Adding to their winning streak with two more non-district victories, the Fredericksburg High School varsity tennis players took 10-3 match wins over both Lampasas last night, Oct. 8, and Brownwood last Thursday, Oct. 3.
Up next for the team will be the final district match in a double-header day scheduled Saturday, Oct. 12.
Billie netters will take on Canyon Lake in the district bout at 8 a.m. on Canyon Lake High School’s courts.
After that, the Fredericksburg players will return home in time to host Mason at 1 p.m. on their own courts.
On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the squad heads to Llano for a 4 p.m. match-up against Copperas Cove.
FHS 10 – Lampasas 3 (12-7)
Playing on middle ground on the Llano High School courts, Fredericksburg edged the Badgers, 10-3 (12-7) to bring their season win count to 15-4 (4-0 in district.)
“It was a very hard-fought win against Lampasas tonight,” said FHS Coach Randall King. “We were up 4-3 after doubles. We had won two crucial super-tiebreaks with mixed doubles and a No. 2 girls’ doubles match to be up after doubles.”
