Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees will host a forum this evening at 5 p.m. at the Central Administration Building. Purpose of the forum is to seek input from the public concerning the district's search for a new superintendent to replace Dr. Marc Williamson who is retiring. The board will meet with staff at 4 p.m. and at 6 p.m. will meet with the TASB consultant concerning the search process.
Communities around Gillespie County are joining together tonight to celebrate National Night Out. Each of the six fire stations in Gillespie County — Fredericksburg, Stonewall, Doss, Harper, Tierra Linda and Willow City — will be open and welcoming visitors, as well as featuring some special events, starting at 6 p.m.
Willow City School supporters are holding a prize drawing tonight to raise funds for the Special Willow City Schoolhouse Fund for preservation, restoration, maintenance and beautification projects of the building and property. Tickets are $1 each and are available at Hohmann’s General Store in Willow City, Fredericksburg Veterinary Hospital or from Frances Heimann, Jeanette Lopez, Mable Wilke and Raynell Wilke.
Country and western dancing will be the focus of two Fredericksburg Independent School District Community Education classes that begin tonight at the Fredericksburg Primary School Gym and continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 24. A beginners' class will be held from 7-8 p.m. followed by the intermediate class from 8-9 p.m.
A "Hand Built Ceramics" class offered by the FISD Community Ed begins tonight and continues on Tuesdays through Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Middle School.
"The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Diets" is the focus of a FISD Community Education class tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at Fredericksburg High School.
"Care and Feeding of Digital Cameras" is the topic of a FISD Community Education class that meets this afternoon and Wednesday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Fredericksburg Elementary School.
Fredericksburg High School volleyball teams will be on the road to Boerne tonight. The freshmen will play at 5 p.m., the JV at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m.
Harper High School volleyball teams will be traveling to Leakey tonight where the JV Green and JV White will play at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 6 p.m.
The Heritage varsity volleyball team will be hosting Seguin Lifegate at 6 p.m. tonight.
