Hubert Hue Nixon
Hubert Hue Nixon, 91, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. William Karlson officiating.
Interment of the cremains will be held at a later date.
Nixon was born Sept. 17, 1921, in London, Texas, the son of Reuben Nixon and Seme Lange Nixon. He married Louise M. Oestreich on Nov. 13, 1955. She preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2005.
Nixon served as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning numerous commendations and medals for his service.
After the war, he attended college at Sul Ross, and then found his true calling and passion as an educator, teaching in Willow City for several years before teaching science in the Fredericksburg Independent School District from 1958-1984.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Terrie Nixon, and a daughter, Nancy Nixon, all of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Delano and Linda Nixon of Kansas, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Allen and Madeleine Oestreich of Fredericksburg.
In addition to his wife and parents, Nixon was preceded in death by a daughter, Zoe Ann Nixon; two brothers, Clinton Nixon and Ellis Nixon; and one sister, Elnora Strackbein.
Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
