Volleyball sweeps Burnet Tuesday
By Matt Ward —
Only two matches remain before the Fredericksburg High School varsity volleyball team opens district play at home on Sept. 27 against Bandera.
“We have two tough matches (this week) against New Braunfels Canyon and Smithson Valley,” FHS head coach Jason Roemer said. “Both will be good tests and both will make us play fast and big — the way we will have to play if we expect to compete for a district championship.”
FHS will travel to New Braunfels Canyon Friday at 6 p.m. before hitting the road again Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. contest at Smithson Valley.
Last night, the Billies swept Burnet on the road 25-17, 25-21, 25-12.
“We seemed a little rusty from having Friday night off last week,” Roemer said. “It had been seven days since we played and it showed a little.”
“In set two, the match slowed down. We had more errors than kills, yet somehow won,” Roemer added. “We served really well tonight with 11 aces and only two errors.”
