Heritage football outlasts Round Rock Christian
By Danny Hirt —
After meeting the challenge presented by visiting Round Rock Christian Academy last Friday to pick up a hard-fought 56-44 victory, the Heritage Eagles know the road doesn’t get any easier.
Explosive San Antonio Castle Hills comes to town this Friday, Sept. 20, for the first six-man football district contest for both schools.
The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
“This was a great win for us,” said Heritage head coach Tim Shipman. “We challenged the team after last Friday night (a 48-8 loss to San Antonio FEAST) to not focus on what happens to you but how you react to it. This week, the entire team worked hard on the fundamentals that were exposed a week before.”
Eagles beat Crusaders
Less than two minutes into last week’s 56-44 victory, Heritage’s Chad Johnson recovered a high snap in the end zone for the Eagles’ first touchdown. Jacob Huser provided the two-point conversion kick, giving the hosts an early 8-0 advantage.
The schools traded touchdowns until late in the second period when Joe Meek powered the ball across the goal line from one yard out, giving Heritage a 28-14 margin with 1:54 left in the half.
