Harper volleyball defeats Ingram
By Danny Hirt —
While they were stung in a five-game match against Boerne Geneva at home on Friday, Sept. 13, the Harper High School Ladyhorns’ varsity volleyball team responded last night (Tuesday, Sept. 17) by topping Ingram on the road, 25-10, 25-21 and 26-24.
The Ladyhorns (18-6) earned a place in the Top Ten listings for Class 1A schools as determined by the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) in a poll dated Sept. 16.
HHS will next travel to Sonora Friday, Sept. 20, for a 5 p.m. match. The White and Green junior varsity squads will each see action at 4 p.m.
From there, the Ladyhorns will host Llano on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. Meanwhile, the two JV teams will face their Llano counterparts in matches that’ll begin at 5 p.m.
In last night’s contest against the Lady Warriors in Ingram, Harper was led by Taylor Reid in the kills department with 13. Macie Lumpkins registered 19 assists while Reid added 13 more.
“The momentum was in our favor early, led by an impressive serving exhibition from Courtney Ahrns,” said HHS head coach Gina Lumpkins. The mentor added that her team’s “strong offensive showing” came from not only Ahrns, but Reid and Sarah Whitten.
