Harper volleyball defeats Hondo
By Danny Hirt —
Rested following Friday’s open date, the Harper varsity volleyball team kept up the heat at it earned a hard-fought five-game home victory over Hondo Tuesday night.
Although the Ladyhorns won the opening contest by a 25-15 margin, they fell behind when they dropped the next two by scores of 22-25 and 19-25.
But Harper responded aggressively in the following two games, winning 25-22 in game four, then topping the Lady Owls 15-10 in the tie-breaker.
“After a week off, it was definitely great to see us come into tonight’s game and play with heart, guts and no fear,” said Harper head coach Gina Lumpkins.
Now sporting a 17-5 record, the Ladyhorns will host Boerne Geneva Friday evening, with the junior varsity match set to start at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 5 p.m. and the freshman match-up at 6 p.m.
