Harper cross country to host Saturday meet
By Danny Hirt —
Harper High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams captured fifth and eighth places, respectively, at Saturday’s ASU Rampage event held at Angelo State University in San Angelo.
The Longhorns will host their own meet on Saturday, Sept. 14, featuring both high school and junior high schools teams from around the area.
A special awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the running events when the winning high school boys’ team will be presented with an award in honor of Jacob Krebs, a member of last year’s Harper cross country team who died last school year while undergoing underwater training in hopes of becoming a Navy SEAL.
In addition to Harper, other schools scheduled to compete in the competition include Fredericksburg, Junction, Blanco, Brackett, Comstock, Rocksprings, Notre Dame, Wimberley, Our Lady of the Hills, Mason, Bandera, Center Point, Medina, Bracken Christian, Ozona, Johnson City and Peterson.
The junior high girls’ event gets underway at 9 a.m., followed by the junior high boys at 9:30 a.m., the high school boys at 10 a.m., and the high school girls at 10:30 a.m.
