Gillespie County taxpayers will see tax bills about seven cents per $100 valuation higher for the county’s share since commissioners adopted a new ad valorem property tax rate of $0.3805 per $100 valuation during Monday’s meeting. In that same session, county officials also adopted a $30 million budget for next year, which includes an estimated $12.4 million jump due to the planned construction of the voter-approved, bond-funded new county jail. In addition, during Monday’s meeting, commissioners approved a guaranteed maximum price of $12,073,887 for construction of the jail, as proposed by Sedalco Construction Services of Forth Worth.
Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday night conditionally approved a request from the Fredericksburg High School Band for a cruise to Mexico during Spring Break. They also made further changes to the drug testing policy.
Fredericksburg City Council on Monday night revoked the permit for Armadillo Taxi but are allowing the company a public hearing at the Sept. 16 meeting.
