News

  • Gillespie County taxpayers will see tax bills about seven cents per $100 valuation higher for the county’s share since commissioners adopted a new ad valorem property tax rate of  $0.3805 per $100 valuation during Monday’s meeting. In that same session, county officials also adopted a $30 million budget for next year, which includes an estimated $12.4 million jump due to the planned construction of the voter-approved, bond-funded new county jail. In addition, during Monday’s meeting, commissioners approved a guaranteed maximum price of $12,073,887 for construction of the jail, as proposed by Sedalco Construction Services of Forth Worth.
  • Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday night conditionally approved a request from the Fredericksburg High School Band for a cruise to Mexico during Spring Break. They also made further changes to the drug testing policy.
  • Fredericksburg City Council on Monday night revoked the permit for Armadillo Taxi but are allowing the company a public hearing at the Sept. 16 meeting.
  • The Fredericksburg Academic Boosters will be holding a general meeting today at 11:30 a.m. at the Hill Country University Center for all current and prospective mentors.

Sports

  • Fredericksburg High School volleyball teams will be hosting Liberty Hill tonight in the FHS Gym. The freshmen and JV play at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 6 p.m. Tonight is also Parents' Night.
  • The FHS tennis team will be playing a district match against Bandera today starting at 4 p.m. at the HEB courts in Kerrville.
  • Harper High School volleyball teams will be hosting Hondo tonight. The JV Green and JV White play at 5 p.m. and the varsity plays at 6 p.m.
  • Heritage varsity volleyball will be hosting Rainbow Hills tonight at 6 p.m.
