Harper volleyball wins Junction tournament

A tournament championship and a non-district victory are what the Harper High School varsity volleyball team had to show for its work during the past week.

In addition to winning the Junction tournament on Friday, the Ladyhorns came back to top Sabinal on the road Tuesday evening by a 3-0 margin (25-10, 25-21, 25-23).

HHS will take part in another multi-school competition Friday and Saturday when they travel to Comfort.

The Ladyhorns will stay on the road Tuesday, Sept. 3, when they take on Johnson City at 6 p.m. The two schools’ junior varsity teams square off at 5 p.m.

In last night’s action, Harper wasted little time in taking the first game of the match by a 25-10 margin, but found the going a little tougher in the next two contests, squeaking out 25-21 and 25-23 victories.

Taylor Reid picked up nine kills and 11 digs on the evening. Reid and Macie Lumpkins each recorded 11 assists last night.
