Harper runners contnue warm ups
By Danny Hirt —
With their opening meet still a week and half away, the Harper High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams are in the midst of their warming-up practice runs.
Following a Comfort “Fun Run” event held Aug. 24, the Longhorn squads, including the junior high teams, will participate in another pre-season event called the “Chocolate Mile Run” Saturday, Aug. 31, on the HHS running course.
The season officially opens Saturday, Sept. 7, in San Angelo at the annual “ASU Stampede” event held on the campus of Angelo State University
The Chocolate Milk Run “is just a workout for our kids here in Harper,” said HHS cross country coach Will Reid. He indicated that the Chocolate Milk Run is a run covering up to eight miles and is open to other runners in the Harper community who might be interested in participating.
“When everybody is done, I have chocolate milk to drink which is a great recovery drink,” Reid said.
