Enrollment mixed on first day for area campuses

For most schools across Gillespie County, classes began on Monday, Aug. 26.
Both Heritage School and Providence Hall begin classes today, Aug. 28. Fredericksburg Christian School will begin on Sept. 3.
This year in the Fredericksburg Independent School District, there were 2,851 total students — 34 less than the 2,885 enrolled last year.
Enrollment figures as of the first day of school were:
Fredericksburg High School: 935 students, or 46 fewer than last year.
There will be an open house at the high school on Monday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
Fredericksburg Middle School: 607 students, a decrease in two from last year.
Fredericksburg Elementary School: 950, an increase of 29 students.
Fredericksburg Primary School: 250. This is 15 less than last year’s total.
Stonewall Elementary School: 109. This is an increase of four students from last year.
